Supply Chain Manager

The Supply Chain Manager coordinates, organizes, and oversees all activities involved in the identification, acquisition, and distribution of the company’s goods across three U.S. manufacturing locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborates with other departments and stakeholders to identify and maintain resources needed to establish and provide an effective supply chain.
  • Establishes performance metrics for, comparison, or evaluation of factors affecting the supply chain including the supplier KPI and dashboard.
  • Builds and develops an effective purchasing organization and team
  • Develops and maintains detailed inventories of materials and supplies located at the plants to ensure efficient uninterrupted production.
  • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
  • Develops policies to increase efficiency throughout the supply chain while ensuring quality and safety; implements subsequent changes to processes.
  • Identifies optimal shipment and transportation routes with attention to consolidation of warehousing and distribution.
  • Assesses the need for material-handling equipment and staffing; makes recommendations to ensure efficient loading, unloading, movement, and storage of materials.
  • Negotiates prices for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and/or shipping companies.
  • Participates as an advisory member of the product development team, providing information and guidance on availability and cost of supplies and materials.
  • Works in cooperation with Axel Group Purchasing Manager in Sweden to set and implement strategies.

  • Works with the Technical Team to help identify and qualify alternative and new raw materials.

  • Acts as part of the team coordinating engineering changes, product line extension, or new product

    launches to ensure timely and orderly material and production flow transitions.

  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement

  • Be familiar with and support the effort of implementing the quality policy and ISO 9001 and IATF

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

    Provides direct and indirect supervision to approximately 8  employees including Purchasing, Shipping and receiving and Inventory control personnel in the three U.S. locations. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; issuing rewards and performance correction; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Thorough understanding of company products and logistics.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or related field required or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Three years of experience as a supervisor, manager, or similar relevant position required. Certifications such as Six Sigma, CSCP, CPSM a plus.
