Job Summary
The Tax Accountant is primarily responsible for the preparation of the Company's federal and state tax filing obligations, assisting the tax manager and director with the quarterly and annual tax provision calculations and other duties as required.
Essential Functions
  • Actively supports the Company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”
  • Represents the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company’s “Code of Business Conduct and Ethics”
  • Prepares federal and state income tax returns (and related workpapers) on a consolidated and separate-entity basis for corporate and partnership entities
  • Prepares federal and state quarterly estimated tax calculations
  • Prepares domestic tax depreciation schedules
  • Responds to state tax inquiries and notices, as required
  • Assists with federal and state audit examinations, as required
  • Prepares analysis of intercompany transactions for US and foreign reporting purposes
  • Assists with gathering information for foreign compliance requirements
  • Assists with the preparation of quarterly and year-end income tax provision calculations and related tax entries
  • Communicates with various departments within the Company to gather required information
  • Assists with special projects as needed, including gathering information for various tax credits
  • Assists with property tax filings
  • Assists with sales and use tax filings
  • Utilizes internal and external resources (such as Checkpoint) to perform research and document tax treatment of various transactions
  • Performs additional responsibilities, as directed
Qualifications             
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field required
  • 1 - 3 years Income Tax Accounting – Public or Industry experience required
  • Excellent organizational skills with detail orientation and strong analytical ability
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), OneSource Income Tax software, BNA Fixed Assets and Adobe Acrobat X Pro
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels within the organization, independently and in teams
