Director Product Management

This is a unique opportunity for the right person to have a significant impact on the future success of a market leading company in a high growth, sustainable industry. The Director of Product Management will partner across key functions to establish the product management function and develop the product roadmap to ensure that end user needs are being carefully considered, and internal requirements/barriers are factored in. S/he will be responsible for identifying and driving enhancements to the platform’s features and functionality to improve the consumer experience, to create more value for our clients and to automate certain manual reconciliation processes. S/he will own the roadmap and related timeline, keeping it front and center for the organization.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Establish a software product management function comprising the front end of our Agile software development life cycle

  • Establish a product management methodology leveraging existing best industry practices

  • Collaborate with key product stakeholders across the organization (sales, operations, development, etc.)and key clients to identify product roadmap themes and priorities

  • Collaborate with Finance and Development to establish a methodology for estimating investment and financial benefits related to product enhancements including measurement and reporting of actual investment made and benefits realized

  • Conduct market research as necessary to help inform product roadmap

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop requirements in support of feature /function enhancements

  • Stay current with latest and best product management practices and development operations tools

  • Stay current with state-of-the art technology advances (e.g. responsive design, data visualization and BI tools, process automation tools, machine learning, distributed ledgers etc.) and leverage inroadmap as appropriate

  • Build, develop and lead a small, high performing team 

  • Assist Sales & Marketing and Client Service with pre- and post-release activities

  • Be a highly visible and vocal leader within the Product Development leadership team and the Company generally

  • Strengthen our brand loyalty with consumers and Sponsors by delivering an exceptional user experience to customers that expect ‘dial tone’ like reliability from our technology

  • Effect change using change management best practices

  • Foster a supportive culture of client centricity, risk management, ownership, inter/intrafunctional teamwork, continuous improvement, and high performance

    Required Experience and Expertise:

  • 7-10 years of product management experience in a technology-based company that relies upon a mission critical, high availability, high throughput system

  • Experience in regulated markets where compliance is critical

  • Experience in payments processing, ideally including payment clearing reconciliation, and exception handling activities

  • Bachelor’s degree; MBA preferred

  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship management and organizational skills

  • Proven success in redesigning and automating processes

  • Solid working knowledge of, and experience with, relevant automation tools

  • Experience with data and analytics tools (e.g., visualization)

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Solid understanding of financial analysis (e.g., cost/benefit analysis)

  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple commitments and lead

    multiple workstreams simultaneously

  • Experience with Agile and waterfall SDLCs


    This person will be an experienced, analytical product management leader with a strong bias toward action. S/he will be a highly effective player/coach who has a discerning eye for talent and a track record of actively developing the right talent while decisively dealing with performance issues. A hands- on leader, s/he will be adept at adjusting management altitude down to the ground as required, with full appreciation for the need to understand payment operations extremely well in order to drive process automation through the payment processing platform – s/he knows that leadership credibility is earned through gaining and demonstrating command of the function and business. This person will also bring a pragmatic but relentless, continuous improvement mindset to the functionality and usability of our payment processing platform. Within the first 90 days s/he will develop an action plan (current state assessment, target future state given business objectives and prioritized steps to bridge gap) that will result in a material impact on our payment processing platform and Company within the first 12 months.
