Senior Applications Engineer
Manufacturer of engineered modular process skids, is seeking an Applications Engineer to work in our Tulsa manufacturing facility. This position will report directly to the Vice President of Business Development, and will be responsible for applications engineering and inside sales, including quoting for our manufactured process skids.
·MS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is required
·Familiarity with basic engineering principles, tools and equipment
·Familiarity with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, mixers, piping, pressure vessels, control valves, filters, skid assemblies, etc.
·Ability to design mechanical gas, vapor, heat exchanger, and control systems
·Ability to interpret bid documents and functional or performance specifications for bidding
·Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system processes and design
·Familiarity with hydraulic and electro-mechanical devices and systems
·Proficiency with Microsoft and other PC applications for engineering (AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Access,)
·Must be able to work independently and in a team
·Ability to design subsystems used in a broad range of energy sector industries. Tasks include but are not limited to design, costing, component selection, application verification, drawing checking, analysis of options, materials suitability studies, calculations, etc.
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
·Respond to or assist in the response to Requests for Quotations (RFQ’s)
·Assemble information for quotes, including pricing and technical write- ups
·Develop applications for inquiries based on company capabilities and experience
·Understanding and application of ASME codes and standards.
·Preliminary design of process flow and associated diagrams and control systems, and other ancillary mechanical systems.
·Drafting of Functional Specification, Operating Summary and/or P&I Flow Diagrams of process.
·Excellent communication, organizational and oral presentation skills ·Technical writing skill
·Technical reading comprehension skills
·Ability to develop and present reports
·Ability to work in a team environment, but also independent and a self-starter
·Ability to perform a variety of common and role specific engineering calculations
·Demonstrated time management skills ·Ability to travel on occasion(s)
·Knowledge of engineering and engineered systems, both quantitative and qualitative
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
·More than 5 years experience in a sales capacity and/or an engineering department with piping, natural gas units, LPG units, ammonia, or other gas and gas/liquids.
·Thorough knowledge of heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, actuated valves etc.
·Understand marketing principles and how our products and services dove-tail with client needs
·Engineering activities: Product and System design and sales support
·Efficiently and effectively support engineering activities as assigned by Director of Engineering
·Back-up other engineering personnel as necessary
The ideal Candidate would have exposure to multiple aspects of manufactured equipment, and is interested in a smaller company environment where flexibility, initiative, and individual assertiveness help get the job done. We're looking for a Candidate that can and will, at times, wear many hats, (i.e.: floor work with manufacturing team for questions, client site visits, design, layout / client interface, technical sales support, etc.)
Must possess a valid US Drivers License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
