Job Summary
The Accountant II is primarily responsible for reviewing and performing account analysis and reconciliations, recommending entry adjustments and improvements, reviewing for exceptions in coding, inputting information into the accounting system and preparing/communicating numerous reports to management/external contacts.
Essential Functions
  • Perform variance analysis to identify and correct exceptions on the financial statements and ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  
  • Perform reconciliations to accounting system and analyze accounts by researching unusual activity and balances to assist in verifying the reasonableness of the balance.
  • Provide supporting documentation for recommended adjustments to accounting system balances, and input/update information accurately and timely as required based on new information.
  • Calculate and book accruals to the general ledger as needed.
  • Work with internal and external auditors and provide requested documentation in a timely manner.
  • Meet reporting needs by providing management/external contacts information as needed.
  • Proactively support a collaborative working environment with a focus on improving financial processes to achieve business objectives and continuously improve performance within the General Accounting Team.
  • Perform additional responsibilities, as directed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 3+ years accounting experience required.
  • Previous experience working at a public accounting firm would be a plus.
  • General knowledge of construction accounting and financial reporting requirements preferred but not required.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels within the organization, independently and in teams.
  • Basic keyboarding skills and ten-key by touch.
