CONTROLLER - CFO

The ideal candidate will be responsible for all managerial duties of the accounting department, financial reporting, day-to- day accounting, revenue cycle management, financial systems development, internal controls, budgeting, forecasting market analysis, conducting feasibility studies, liaison with tax CPA for tax planning, banking relationships, and creation and maintenance of records and procedures to adequately safeguard the assets of the organization. Additionally, this role will serve as a financial liaison between the 2 entities and our parent company, requiring periodic financial reporting and analyses directly to their financial offices.

Essential Functions


Qualified candidates for this position must be able to perform the following functions:
  • Direct or coordinate an organization’s accounting, financial, and budget activities to fund operations, maximize investments, or increase efficiency.
  • Analyze operations to evaluate performance of a company or its staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change.
  • Direct, plan, or implement policies, objectives, or activities of organizations or businesses to ensure continuing operations, to maximize returns on investments, or to increase productivity.
  • Prepare budgets for approval, including those for funding or implementation of programs.
  • Confer with board members, corporate management, members of local management, or staff members to discuss issues, coordinate activities, or resolve problems.
  • Calculate and report division performance metrics, research questions, coordinate with division leadership and functions.
  • Implement corrective action plans to solve organizational or departmental problems. Establish departmental responsibilities and coordinate functions among departments and sites.
  • Negotiate or approve contracts or agreements with financial institutions, federal or state agencies, or other organizational entities.
 
  • Coordinate the development or implementation of budgetary control systems, recordkeeping systems, or other administrative control processes.
  • Review reports submitted by staff members to recommend approval or to suggest changes.
  • Interpret and explain policies, rules, regulations, or laws to organizations, government or corporate officials, or individuals.
  • Prepare or present reports concerning activities, expenses, budgets, government statutes or rulings, or other items affecting businesses or program services to local and corporate management.
  • Review and analyze legislation, laws, or public policy and recommend changes to promote or support interests of the general population or special groups.
  • Determine and create financial strategy for selection of sites, construction of buildings, or provision of equipment, supplies, or other large capital expenditures with the input of corporate management.
  • Direct or coordinate activities of businesses involved with buying or selling investment products or financial services.
  • Represent organizations or promote their objectives at official functions or delegate representatives to do so.
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Provide reporting, analysis, and recommendations on forecasting/planning on business product mix, price, and detailed analysis of job cost performance and backlog.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other tax requirements.
  • Champion the process of understanding, implementing, administering, and collecting required sales and use tax.
  • Provide or facilitate internal and external financial auditing services for the company. Review and analyze business operations, trends, forecasts, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Appraise, evaluate, and inventory real property and equipment, recording information such as the description, value and location of property.
  • Drive quality and continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility and assist with process improvements.
 

Experience and Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred; field of study – Business with an emphasis in Accounting or Finance
  • 10 plus years experience within a similar role, preferably within the manufacturing industry
  • 5 plus years experience in financial leadership is preferred
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to drive collaboration and cooperation across business units
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or similar certification is preferred
  • Experience with financial planning within a LLC is preferred
  • Strong IT capabilities, Experience in the implementation of ERP systems is preferred
