Job Title: Staff Accountant

Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring the accuracy of financial data. This role involves working with various departments to ensure proper financial reporting, compliance, and assisting in the month-end closing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including financial statement preparation and analysis.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions, including verifying invoices, managing collections, and processing payments.
- Monitor and track company expenses, ensuring they are within budget and properly categorized.
- Assist in preparing budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations and policies.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and capital expenditure tracking.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant federal, state, and local financial regulations.
- Assist in the implementation and improvement of accounting processes and internal controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support ad-hoc financial projects and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 1+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a nonprofit or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
