Senior Accountant

(AP, Payroll & General Accounting)

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing accounts payable, payroll, and general accounting functions while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. This role plays a critical part in maintaining strong internal controls, improving processes, and stabilizing accounting operations.

This position offers long-term growth potential, with the opportunity to develop into a Controller-level role over time.


Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations

  • Oversee and manage the full accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong vendor relationships

  • Administer payroll processing and compliance, including related reporting and reconciliations

  • Perform and review journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes

  • Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting

  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting procedures

Process & Systems Improvement

  • Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements

  • Develop documentation for accounting procedures and workflows

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements

  • Support audit preparation and coordination

Leadership & Growth

  • Provide oversight and guidance to AP and payroll staff 

  • Serve as a key partner to leadership in financial operations

  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes

  • Develop skills and experience aligned with future Controller responsibilities


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience

  • Experience managing accounts payable and payroll functions

  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close

  • Proficiency in accounting systems and Excel

  • Strong attention to detail with ability to improve processes

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred:

  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or job-cost environments

  • Supervisory experience
