Controller

Location: Norman–Oklahoma City area

A large regional nonprofit with more than 1,700 employees is seeking a Controller to lead its accounting operations and financial reporting for the Central Oklahoma region. This position will oversee the monthly close, strengthen financial controls, support grant and contract compliance, and provide reliable financial information to leadership. The Controller will work closely with program and finance leaders across a complex organization.

Responsibilities

• Lead the accounting team and oversee general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting and grant accounting functions.
• Manage the monthly and annual close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
• Oversee accounting for grants and contracts from federal, state, local and private funding sources.
• Ensure grant expenditures, billing and financial reports comply with contract terms and applicable requirements.
• Establish and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Lead the annual audit and coordinate preparation of schedules, documentation and financial information.
• Monitor cash flow, reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
• Partner with leadership on budgets, financial analysis and reporting.
• Improve accounting processes and systems to support accuracy, efficiency and growth.
• Develop and mentor accounting staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA preferred.
• Significant accounting leadership experience, including responsibility for financial reporting, internal controls and audits.
• Experience supervising and developing an accounting team.
• Nonprofit accounting and grant management experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of federal grant requirements and Uniform Guidance preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting systems; Sage experience is a plus.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly and work effectively with leaders across the organization.
