Senior Accountant
Location: Catoosa, Oklahoma | Full-Time, On-Site
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. This position will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting accounting activities across multiple locations. Responsibilities include general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and process improvement.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional who is highly accurate, organized, and comfortable working in a growing, multi-location business. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with accounting, operations, and branch leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, allocations, and other general ledger activity.
- Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, and subsidiary ledgers.
- Review general ledger activity and research and resolve discrepancies.
- Support accounting activities for multiple locations and related business operations.
- Assist with inventory accounting, including reconciliations, adjustments, and variance analysis.
- Maintain fixed-asset records and prepare depreciation entries and supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly financial statements, account analyses, and management reports.
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant budget-to-actual and period-over-period variances.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash-management activities as needed.
- Support annual audits and tax preparation by providing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Help maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and system efficiency.
- Partner with operational and branch personnel to resolve accounting questions and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
- Perform special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Three or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and general ledger accounting.
- Experience with month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and lookup functions.
- Experience working in a multi-location, distribution, building-materials, retail, or inventory-based organization is preferred.
- Experience with ERP or accounting software systems required.
