Assistant Controller

A mid-size rapidly growing international manufacturing company that is a short 30-minute drive from Tulsa is looking for an Assistant Controller to lead the finance department of this company.  This position has the ability to grow into a larger role within the company or within the organization.  

Primary responsibilities would include but not limited to the following:
  • Establish and maintain department operating practices and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and internal accounting policies.
  • Oversee local accounting department staff along with establishing and tracking accounting department staff development plans for long term career growth; work load planning and prioritize; monitoring the timely completion of staff assignments to meet expectations of the management team and divisional financial department leader; and council employees for performance issues.
  • Be an active member of the management team and participate in discussions/decisions.
  • Act as a liaison between the finance group and other departments within the operating company and within the organization.
  • Responsible for month-end and year-end reporting.
  • Responsible for monthly preparation of the financial package for the local operating entity along with assisting with the monthly preparation of the financial package for remote locations.
  • Monthly reconciliations.
  • Prepare local operating facility annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Assist with foreign currency translations.
  • Prepare for audits and assist external auditors.
  • Monthly variance analysis.
  • Review daily inquiries and ensure inquiries are being resolve timely.
  • Participates in or leads additional special projects, duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years Supervisory experience with a track record of training, developing, and motivating staff.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be a contributing member of an energetic team.
  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft software products (particularly Excel)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Successful leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong GAAP knowledge.
  • Experience in software system conversions / upgrades.
  • Liaison for external auditor.
  • Experience with identifying and implement process improvements.
  • Experience in preparing account reconciliations, sales & use tax returns, 1099’s, and unclaimed property returns.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Can handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent inter-personnel skills and a team player attitude.
  • Goal oriented.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • MBA or CPA is a plus
