Job Summary
We are looking for a Plant Accountant to prepare and analyze financial reports and track fixed assets for the assigned plants. This position will analyze historical costs and compute standard cost for multiple locations. This position will also handle inventory monitoring and materials scheduling for the assigned plants. You must be a detail oriented, analytical, highly organized self-starter with the ability to multi-task and have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Responsibilities and Duties
You will:
Participate in the monthly close of the books, reporting and analysis of financial results for plant(s).
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations as well as the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for assigned plant(s).
  • Fixed asset tracking and reporting at the assigned locations.
  • Prepare, create, analyze and interpret existing and new financial reports.
  • Participate in the analysis of balance sheet, income statement, margin and variance reports.
  • Ensure proper contract pricing and materials scheduling. Participate in the cost accounting activity, including variance analysis and reporting, as well as ensuring the integrity of the standard cost system in Microsoft Dynamics NAV.
  • Perform tracking and reporting of key performance indicator (KPI) metrics.
  • Support financial controls activity, as well as internal and external audits.
  • Prepare and analyze yield calculations as well as inventory schedules and record related entries.
  • Work with other plant accounting analysts to provide support as needed for the monthly consolidation reporting.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting and forecasting process for assigned plant(s) and provide support to the location staff on proper preparation of their materials usage and yield reports.
  • Work extended hours at month end, quarter end and year end as needed to meet business needs.
  • Consistently strive for gains in efficiency with continued process improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
Qualifications and Skills
Basic Qualifications: (required)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business
  • 3 plus years of experience to include:
  • Working with financial reporting and GL systems
  • Knowledge of Standard Cost processes
  • Working with daily deadlines, month-end, quarter end and year end reports  
  • Knowledgeable in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel 
Preferred Qualifications: (desired)
  • Manufacturing industry knowledge or experience.
  • Software experience with ERP - Dynamics preferred
