Financial Accountant

Assists financial accounting staff in all areas of financial accounting including computing and recording monthly journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts and other financial accounting duties. Supports efforts required in implementing new software systems, including but not limited to external insurance and general ledger software packages.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 

• Assists in recording of daily cash transactions to the general ledger. 
• Prepares bank reconciliations for assigned bank accounts.
• Assists in the maintenance of the property and equipment ledgers including preparation of monthly and quarterly reports and placing equipment tags on equipment.           
• Prepares various general ledger reconciliations and general ledger entries as required. 
• Assists in the filing of quarterly state premium tax reports and all year end state premium tax returns and supplemental reports.
• Assists in the filing of surplus lines tax monthly and annual filings.
• Assists in the preparation of the statutory quarterly and annual filing requirements as assigned
• Performs special requests and projects as requested by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from four-year college or university and one to three years related experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
