Executive Director
Reports to:  Board of Directors

Job Overview
The executive director leads the organization and the organization’s staff according to its mission and works towards continual improvement.  This person manages the administrative, financial, program and volunteer aspects of the organization.  This role works closely with the board of directors, keeping them informed and providing support and information as needed.
This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position requiring occasional evening and weekend work with some travel necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all elements of the organization, including administration, development and program
  • Work closely with Board of Directors in support of organizational needs and activities
    • Work with Board to develop and manage organizational short-term and long-term goals
    • Oversee the implementation of all organizational strategic plans
    • Meet with Board President regularly to provide organizational updates
    • Attend all committee meetings and monthly Board meetings
  • Oversee development needs
    • Work closely with Development Manager concerning fundraising efforts, including annual campaigns and special events
    • Support ongoing relationships with major donors through in-person meetings and other stewardship efforts
    • Work with communication and development teams on all external-facing marketing pieces
  • Oversee program needs
    • Work closely with Program Manager regarding program curriculum and delivery
    • Ensure all program components are being delivered consistently
    • Encourage the growth of community partnerships to further mission
  • Oversee financial, HR and office needs
    • Work closely with Office Administrator concerning financial, HR and office items
    • Coordinate with department heads on budgetary needs
    • Create and implement performance management process for staff
    • Identify professional development activities for self and staff and arrange for participation
    • Work closely with Special Projects on facility needs
  • Support and fill any and all operational functions of organization as needed
  • Effectively communicate mission, strategy and operations to all involved stakeholders
  • Serve as the face of the organization at events, in marketing materials and at other community activities as needed
  • Encourage and support a positive, collaborative working environment across all departments

Qualifications
 
  • Associate of Arts in Business or other associated degree. Bachelor of Business (preferred) or combination of associated education and experience
  • Experience in development preferred but not required
  • 2+ years’ experience managing a non-profit organization
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication; listening skills
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office skills as well as database management skills
  • Strategic thinking, planning and organizing
  • Managerial skills
  • High integrity and credibility
  • Adaptability
  • Good judgment, problem solving and diplomacy skills
  • Strong initiative, work ethic, supported by commitment and follow-through for results
